Tesla Model 3 To Be Unveiled March 2016

With a new home battery just hitting the market, the Model S P85Dkicking down supercar doors around the world, and a series of drone rockets (nearly) landing on drone ships, Tesla Motors [NSDQ:TSLA] CEO Elon Musk must be feeling pretty good about himself. By the time next March roles around, he’ll be even more smug: that’s when the upcoming Model 3 is expected to make its public debut.

We already knew the Model 3—or Model III, as it’s likely to be badged after a naming-rights fight with Ford canned the planned Model E name—would make its debut in 2016, but we didn’t know the month. Now we do.

The Model 3 is the car that will take the brand beyond the high-performance, luxury status earned by the Model S and its variants and into the mainstream—perhaps even into your driveway. With an expected price of around $35,000 and a range thought to hover around the 200-mile mark, the Model 3 will take the fight to every other carmaker, too.

There's yet another Tesla vehicle waiting in the wings, too—literally, with its falcon doors—in the form of the Model X crossover.

Whether Tesla has what it takes to fight the big brands on their own turf remains to be seen, but given the pluck and pomp of Musk himself, as well as his track record at the helm of Tesla, we aren’t counting him out yet.
I'm as eager to see the Tesla Model 3 hit the market as I am the Elio. I only wish there was a similar Motor Authority Announcement and Photo of Paul Elio standing beside the Production E Protototype in the tooled up Shreveport factory making that same announcement, Elio to be unveiled and delivered in 2016!

announcing the Model 3 announcement one year in advance, and 2 years in advance of production.

Where have we seen before such advanced announcing? LOL

Toyota and others are still developing fuel cell EVs, saying range and charging time for battery EVs dissuades customers.

The $Bs being poured into battery and fuel cell research will pay off sooner rather than later. The infrastructure for electricity FAST charging and hydrogen refueling are big questions.
Tesla just finished constructing one of their quick charge stations a few blocks from where I live. I plan on getting my Tesla Model 3 quick charged in 30 minutes (free of charge) while having coffee at the adjacent diner.

Tesla SELLS ZEV tax credits to real car makers . Tesla has never once earned $1 in actual profit by making a car . It is a fabricated business , an illusion.
If you or I sold donuts that tasted like sweaty rectum , we would be out of business in days . But , if the Govt incentivized our sales and we were able to glean $5 per donut from all other Donut makers , we would be the darling of the left like Elon Musk .
.........and the government didn't provide the failed auto industry a little support back in 2008? Frankly, because of that and it's positve impact on saving and rebuilding our economy the donut shops remained open on mainstreet and I can still afford a donut. My favorite donut shop is next to that new Tesla Super Charge Station too! A win win.

My apology for the post I just deleted,( I hope you didn't have time to see it. I found it I offensive, it bothered me to respond to your world,
Although my list is getting longer (I don't need nor want such negative energy) I will now Ignor/block you- Although my list of blocks is extending, I'd sooner live with it then have to respond to you. I hope we soon get our E's which will instantly give us mutual focus, no need to respond won't see it.

Yep plug it in it is all free then.
We both no nothings free, but a courtesy top off battery charge for Tesla Owners via the Tesla Supercharger network is a plus for driving phony green..........leaving more $3.00/gal + gas for you. A win win.

It doesn't matter . When any "business" only exists if taxpayers and clever back room deals have to prop it up , it's not a viable company . Startup loan is one thing but systematic cap and trade earnings is shady .

then there are 10s of 1000s profitable companies are not your "viable" companies because their business depends on paying minimum/very low/non-living wages AND counting on taxpayers (socialism!, "confiscated") taxes to allow those employees to pay rent, run a car to get to work, buy food, clothes.

Low-wages subsidized by taxpayers are fundamental to some huge corporations' business plans, are really scams of transferring taxpayer wealth to wealthy owners, mgmt, their investors (mgmt is very often paid with stock, so their are investors). There are Ms of taxpayers subsidizing low ages of, eg, junk food restaurants, although those taxpayers NEVER eat at those junk food restaurants.

Raise those wages and businesses will find a way to automate those jobs.
If your major skill is the ability to say "Would you like fries with that?" don't expect anything other than minimum wage.

Minimum wage hasn't been adjusted to keep up with inflation and the huge profits of the big business (Walmart, McDonalds) that low wage earners (shrinking middleclass) work for. There are some people that simply will be forced to work in the service industry (to support the families primary wage earner) and saying "Fries with that" not because they want too because growing up they may have not had the same positive family environment/support and educational opportunities we had as kids.

Frankly, I respect the people who provide those services. It's a hard days work and I know because I've been there as I worked up the food chain. Most can't afford to put gas in a car they can't afford to buy to get to that minimum wage job that barely pays rent and puts food on the table when company profits are at all time highs.

I'm hoping for those 1500 Shreveport residents to land those promised high paying jobs building our Elio's.
