Well I can't argue with your chart on mileage IF that is correct...on the other thing that very first one, that is a Luther Dealership and as you MAY or MAY NOT know, they don't deal, they point at the price and you pay it OR WALK! They had a Used 2009 in 2011 and I WALKED... I don't know how long the "CPO" warranty is good for, Because I haven't been shopping and I don't know how much the Used prices have changed since 2011 but I can tell you that top one is $12,485 with 8,000 miles and are offering 2.9%...And USED ("CPO" or otherwise) cars at dealers are almost ALWAYS more than private party. I just got a mailing from My Toyota dealer that they would give me just under $3000 off and 0% financing if I Order a 2017 or Pre-order a 2018. I considered it because that would be about $14,000..Why would I save ONLY $1500 for a 2 year old car with 8,000 miles. Sorry it still doesn't add up to me!

Luther deals, it's Walser that has the no negotiation shtick...at least Luther seemed ready to deal when I inquired about a Volt earlier this year.

That was simply the first link that came up, it's hardly indicative of the CPO market as a whole. Also, the used market generally benefits higher priced vehicles (or higher trim vehicles) as they depreciate a bit faster...so the Yaris isn't really the best example to use, I just did so because that's what you had experience with.

You need to put I one more statistic to your chart above, and that is all the old farts that just want a neat looking toy to ride around and have fun in!

I believe that wouldn't fall under the category of a "commuter vehicle." Or at least the walk to the couch or porch, or possibly drive to the Country Kitchen, isn't taken into consideration.

There are a lot of us older guys and girls around that want an elio, but not as a commuter vehicle. I for one , don't just go to the couch, or porch, or to the country kitchen. I am going prospecting in Az., Ca., Idaho,Alaska, and Or.. I also play golf twice a week, do my own landscaping and maintanance . May be you are speaking for yourself.

May not have come across well in text, but I intended that as a joke.

I don't doubt that there are a wide variety of people who've reserved Elio's, but statistics aren't good at taking all variables into account. I don't think you're in a statistically significant group, as it pertains to the Avg. Am commuter.

I'm only 33, but certainly hope that I'm able to do even half of the activities you have planned when I'm an "old fart."

What age does old fart happen at? I just want to know when I have to change my designation. :p

That's a good question, Doug is the one that used the terminology, so I guess he'd have a better idea than me.

Personally, I'd say it varies from person to person. Age is just a number, and all that ;)

I certainly agree that Higher class vehicles vehicles deprecate faster. But I disagree as the Stripped vs Loaded seems to make a HUGE difference. The Yaris wasn't my first new vehicle, in September 04 I bought a closeout 04 Regular cab F150XL (new body style V8 auto stripped 4x4) a year later we were looking at trucks for my brother in law, it was sad that at that time Reg Cab 2004 F150s XLT now 2 years old with 30-50 thousand miles were being negotiated at the same price I paid for a NEW truck a year earlier. I know the XLT was about 1500 more than mine.. I know that getting new 1 year old models helps my price lower, But I can't see how electric windows and door locks hold their value that much. Must be that Lazy thing again. He ended up getting a 2006 for about 1500 more than the used ones. But now looking at those same trucks on the used market they want $10-12K for one with 175000+ miles that is STILL half price as when they were new!
