Looked up battery replacement cost for a Tesla...$12,000 in 2021... don't believe me...ask Elon! Or look it up. Also major battery degradation after less than 25k miles. Also... battery is ruined by road debris. Doubt it...look it up! Nobody spends $6000-10000 a year on a reliable ICE that I've asked... Twilight Zone stuff or maybe a Hyundai or a Yugo!

Geewiz. Aren't we judgmental around here without knowing all the facts. So maybe you are asking the wrong people? Ask me. I have a 180 mile commute. Gas is hovering around $3 around here for mid grade. 5 to 6 days a week. Today $2.60. Sometimes I do more miles. I recently posted on another thread that I had to submit my gas receipts for insurance reimbursement for various weeks. It was generally over $200. Do the math. Why do you think Im interested in the Elio, Because it come in red???

I liked this part very much as it seems to confirm my near production readiness mantra.
" While we are more than satisfied with our vehicle as currently constructed, we are always keeping an eye on the future."

Is it really constructed yet? Sorry, had to go there...

I think the Elio would be the perfect bridge for the battery haters and over all change haters, but it needs to be made now! That window is practically closed.

Cost of battery replacement for Chevy Volt...$15,734.29. 6/15/2017 Transport Evolved. Plus...major battery degradation problems! Plus...EVs have already been around for 180+ years... something better always comes along than the EV according to history. Battery hatred goes WAY back! :second:

Some context to that, though:

The Bolt EV battery is covered by the electric-car propulsion warranty (see specifics below) and Bolt EV customers shouldn’t expect to pay parts costs for warrantied repairs.

In [almost seven] years of Volt sales we have yet to replace a single battery pack under warranty for general capacity degradation, and many owners are still reporting they enjoy the same range capability they had when they purchased the car.

Whole battery-pack replacement is also largely mitigated by the design, manufacturing technique, dealer diagnostic, and repair tools included to support the manufacture, sale, and service needs of the Bolt EV, meaning individual modules can be replaced should it be required.

In addition to the 3-year/36,000-mile Bumper-to-Bumper Coverage, Chevrolet warrants certain components for each Bolt EV for 8 years or 100,000 miles (160, 000 kilometers), whichever comes first, from the original in-service date of the vehicle ... for repairs to the specific electric propulsion components of the vehicle.

$100 kWh by 2030 for a battery pack replacement... impressive?!?!
Do you have a wind or solar installation paid for by a company flex plan? Of course not...gas cost reimbursement matters. Or pay your own way.

Why are you even here? Do you know anything about the Elio? Do you even care?

Right on the front page of Elio's web page, 84mpg:

https://www.eliomotors.com/

What car costs 6k a year to maintain, let alone 10k? You are getting screwed if you are paying that much. I can see if you bought a 35k car with no down payment. Car payment alone is $6,400/year, but that's not maintenance, that's the purchase price, which is done through a loan. The Elio costs ~7,500, not including any options. So you can buy several Elios for your 1 car.
Oh sorry didn't notice the front page where it clearly states 84mpg -you are making a joke EM isn't pushing that or 5 star safety rating anymore
EM doesn't have a vehicle that gets over whatever the longest a prototype has ever run ? 10 miles??

Don't get too attached to that 84 mpg unless you have proof to substantiate this beyond what's advertised in EM's website. Trying to argue that ELIO is better than any EV's or ICE out there that's already in our roads is silly. You of course knows the reason why, ELIO is still half baked at this point, none has been tested in real time and none posted and verified by EM themselves that in fact it can do all those things. We all want our ELIO but it's kinda premature to celebrate their glory don't you think? That's being realistic IMHO. ;)
