I actually have not test driven the SOLO or the FUV but I can only assume that both will sell really well. There's a lot of people (well off) that have disposable cash who want to own one just for the heck of it, there are those that are into EVs or the ones that WANT to get into EV for the first time, retirees, those that gets the concept of why SOLO was created in the first place (everyday 119 million North Americans commute using personal vehicles- 105 million of them commute ALONE) and those that got tired of waiting for the ELIO who puts in 1K and used that to reserve for the SOLO. Anyhow, like it or hate it, they're here, they're already selling and once they're in full production, it will take it's share of the streets where you're at.

unless a VERY. BIG premium tax on guzzlers is mandated(perhaps a sliding scale based on efficiency) i.e. 10mpg? $3,000 added to registration fee. 20, mpg $2000/ year, and a sliding scale to where a Solo/E EV gets a credit, Americans will not car pool, or give up their "safe large machines"
The trend has always supported this. When gas was cheap, ya couldn't give away small efficient cars, when gas goes up you couldn't give the big burners away. If gas were to go up to $6.00/gallon, sales of big rigs will go down, and waiting lines and above sticker price for Prius'
Just need to look at the EU with their high taxes, and watch what they're driving to work.
We (USA) consume an inordinate amount of petrol, I think 25% of the worlds.
and the" price" beyond dollars we have paid to protect that reality.

You're not crazy RUCRAYZE, you speak the truth! We love our trucks or as you say "safe large machines" and they're not gonna go away or any of those gas guzzlers. But like I said, the pure EVs have arrived and it'll take it's share of the pie. Tesla is already outselling some popular brand of cars. o yeah, a lot of them out there with disposable cash wants their TESLAs. Me, I just want my SOLO, is that too much to ask???

This may not be too novel (Austrailia is doing it, I believe). Higher speed limits for electric vehicles. Would that influence things much? It could be done relatively cheaply, without added taxes, and could influence people towards buying electric even if they aren't environmentally minded.

Paying tax per gallon of gas IS actually a penalty for gas guzzling trucks. Trust me. I'm paying a LOT more for my road use than those guys in electric cars which pay nothing. In fact, if we woke up tomorrow and everyone's vehicles were magically electrical vehicles, this country would be in a lot of trouble... Who would maintain the roads and where would the electricity come from? I'm all for a more economical vehicle. That's kind of why I'm here. But, I can't NOT have a truck to move my trailer. I ALSO can't afford a Tesla... Yet.

October 29, 2018 news- Electra Meccanica Announces Vehicle Pre-Orders Now Exceeds 64,000 Units! Vehicle pre-orders represents 2.4 billion in potential sales at expected MSRP. As of Oct. 22, 2018 vehicle pre-orders across all models - 23,030 pre-orders for SOLO targeted for 15.5K USD and 41,124 pre-orders for the Tofino at 50K target MSRP. I know some of them have not even sat on a SOLO just like me let alone the Tofino that costs 50K! Once they begin their test drives, I can only see the pre-order numbers going up!

Most of those must be Chinese reservationist #’s pre-sold by EMV’s China Solo Store location. I’m hoping for an early on indicator of USA public acceptance of both EMV and Arcimoto three wheeler introductions........it would be good news for a future Elio.

Note: I am on the fence with any vehicle until after a test drive to experience fit, finish, performance, handling, driver ingress/egress and driver comfort..........and lastly Safety........because they are motorcycle classified vehicles and my safety expectations are low. It’s at that point I can make the decision to lock in my reservation and make the purchase........or cancel if it doesn’t meet my expectations. I simply can’t ass.u.me any vehicle would.......except for maybe the Tesla Model X.......if I only had the cash.

I agree RickB. I'm a retiree just looking for a much simpler vehicle that makes sense to me. Simple EV platform, no extra gizmos like the SOLO that takes me from point A to B and back, does not look TOYish and that I can also afford. The SOLO will be my poor man's TESLA. It's got the performance I like, 0-60 in 8 sec., speeds up to 85-88mph and 100 mile range, more than enough for my daily routine. I bike too so it'll be roof mounted using the suction holders as seen in one of EMV videos.

I agree RickB. I'm a retiree just looking for a much simpler vehicle that makes sense to me. Simple EV platform, no extra gizmos like the SOLO that takes me from point A to B and back, does not look TOYish and that I can also afford. The SOLO will be my poor man's TESLA. That’s kinda my same scenario........minus the bike and .5 seconds. Although the FUV will have a side mounted bike rack option just in case.

Well RickB, it looks like you're all set with your FUV having test driven it but I'll wait a bit until I hear that the SOLO China assembly plant is already in operation, then it's safe to say they're ready for Q1 deliveries like they've been saying. I don't want to get too excited after a test drive and then announcing a delay from Q1 to whatever.
