No Rear Window / Rear View Camera

Its this type of thinking that makes cars in the usa so expencive.

Sure add camera. ..the price goes up .
Then somthing else. The price goes up.

you have to be proactive. gm tried to save a buck and now they are paying out billions. how much could a camera cost today. they are cheap.

Don't you guys think elio is going to get sued for not having the rear view camera standard. Once that first child is killed when someone backs up,its going to be millions in lawsuits. There excuse will be to use the side mirrors but i doubt you can see a 7 year old if he is behind it. Isn't it worth the few extra bucks that these cameras probably cost now. I think they are opening a can of worms from lawyers

I have yet to run anything or anyone over while backing and want nothing to do with a rear view camera. If someone backs over a kid they are at fault not the autocycle. I do not want to pay for things I donot want or need. I just walk behind my car before I back up and look to see what is behind me.

trying to squeeze another penny out of a required component is different than including an extra. There are pics out the mirrors, on his thread, I think. This line of thinking is what leads to all the "stuff" added to keep the driver from having to put their attention on what they are doing.

No.

Rearward visibility in the Elio is better than any SUV or "crossover" now. Based on some factory rear camera systems I've tried, there are still gaping blind spots even with the cameras. Elio will still have better visibility than some vehicles with cameras.

Simple rules:
1. Don't back up unless you know what's behind you.
2. Back up at a crawling pace.
3. If you can't see what's behind you, see rule #1.

I'm always amazed at how fast people charge backwards out of their driveways and parking spaces. No wonder kids, adults, pets, other vehicles, billboards, houses, trees, farm animals, etc. get hit.

Why is it some people aren't happy with the Elio? Are their lives so miserable, that they must find fault with something, they have no control over? The engine is to small, the transmission sucks, there's no camera, there's no rear window, the colors are wrong, the fenders are wrong, the lights are wrong, Elgin dash, no Elgin dash, the plant is empty, the plant is full of useless equipment, there's no news, it's the wrong news, to little information being released. When, when, when, When will I get my Elio! Enough already! Stop beating the horse! It's dead already! We know your not happy! We know your scared about your investment ( or lack there of ). We know your thinking it will fail! But could you for one day stop critiquing the poor little thing to death! The negitive energy is very tiring and getting very old, very quickly!

eBay is full of reversing sensor kits. Cheap to buy, easy to install. If there proved to be a problem with rear view and people can't be bothered to get out and have a look, the answer is easy enough.

I prefer to look for solutions rather than problems.

Nah I don't think so. There are plenty of cars, trucks, vans on the road now, that if a 7 yr old stands in the perfect spot, he'll be unseen by a rear view and two side view mirrors.
