I agree with you for a person standing in the back, however, how about a small child or a small object. A rear camera would be a good feature.
Not having a rear view mirror will keep those tailgator head lamps from blinding you. Not to mention the raised/liftted pick up truck headlamps from blinding you. At slow turtle speeds or backing up we need to be looking for children on tri cycles (low height) neighbors dogs/cats (low height), curbs backing up against, lamp posts that were not set back enough form curbs at business parking lots, etc.. We need to see not to back our fine Elio into parallel parked vehicles, need dept perception, need practice. Rear camera good idea, I have not used one yet. Someone mentioned infared, nice to see backing up at night. Elio mentioned option 3d side view mirrors or similar. That sounds good to me. Surely we all want to see backing out of shopping mall parking spaces or supermarket parking lots. You all that have used cameras do they have sonar for those vehicles in parking lots that come out of nowhere to warn you? Backingup at night or darkness will there be a normal or above normal back up light? All the decuission on no rearviw mirror will the two side view mirrors have electric adjustable positioning 4 way tabs or a manual interior handle? Been some good posingst from the future Elio owners. Fun to ponder, hunt for the what ifs, fun to research until the specs sheets are written. The Elio team is doing good for us.
