If 20,000 - 30,000 folks paid for their vehicles in advance , Elio could easily go into production . With momentum like that , short or intermediate traditional loans would be forthcoming . 3-6 months they should be banging out Elios faster than a nearsighted gynecologist with a wet nose.

One thing that seems to be overlooked is that just because you have a deposit doesn't necessarily mean that you are really that involved or even watching the process. You figure on this forum, there are only 20 or so really active / vocal members. FB has a few there as well. The sign the gov't petition thing couldn't muster very many votes at all. So the 39,000 or so people with money down, doesn't really equate to a wave of enthusiasm for this vehicle.

Can you imagine the stink of the ones that would put down the entire cost of the Elio and still coming up short on the funds needed to proceed? It's a grand idea actually but I would guess most of us don't have the reserve of cash to participate. I agree with CT, the Elio is a great idea and a great car but the most any are willing to participate is putting reservation $$ down. Beyond that it looks like it's up to Elio to create the car to create the demand.

It seems that some folks think that by putting their money at risk they have elevated themselves above those who navigate more carefully .
It's like the gambler at the football game who thinks he should get a better seat than the regular fans.

We too operate in our own little world here
Didn't see one article in WSG,NYT, WP on t.v or radio mentioning that the engine date had been postponed. Maybe on the local Shreveport TV/press it might have. but for us and those folks it was a non-event
But just one picture of the Elio driving through the NE snowstorms- reservations double!!

And a grand little world it is! Sorta like the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, only without the duchess. The picture of the Elio in the snow, is that in reference the quick little article on the Saturday morning show on CBS hosted by Mo Rocca this last Saturday? Nothing new was said but it was a nice little piece. It did end with the note that you can't buy one now but you can put in a reservation for next years production.

There have been previous vids with the E riding on snow It was a poor attempt at humor to suggest it could handle the NE storm(s).
I too thought it was very well done and positive,
