The trunk is more than big enough for me. It is just me and my two 25lb dogs. I will not be able to fit my 2 tortoises in there they now weigh almost 100lbs each. That is why I plan on keeping my 2004 Tacoma until it cannot run anymore.

Thank you all, I now understand. A car should not suit our needs, we should make our needs suit the car.
The car will suit my needs economical transportation with everything a need in a daily driver. It was not meant to carry a sheet of plywood or a family of 4. 90% of the time I am going somewhere alone, in the past I had a motorcycle now I don't like getting wet and cold. The Ellio is cheaper than my last motorcycle and just a little more than my current bicycle.

You should use a vehicle that fits your needs; if you need to carry 2 people and 8 suitcases, the Elio isn't going to work.
That is if you really need all 8 suitcases during your trip. If you don't need them until you get to your location, then adjust accordingly and adapt to what you do have the space for.
An Elio will never fit the needs of every person in every situation; and because of that, you don't need to adjust to use it; simply use something else that will.

Here's a quote from an e-mail I received from Elio today.

"Leaving your clunker at home and opting for maximum fuel efficeincy, among other tips to get the most out of your summer road trip!".

Let's assume I already have my Elio. I won't be getting "maximum fuel efficeincy" (their misspelling) on my "summer road trip". Why, because I can't take the Elio, it doesn't have enough trunk space. That "84 mpg" does you a lot of good when you have to leave it in the garage!

You will be saving soooo much money thru the rest of the year, you will be able to rent what you want (need) for those vacations! :humble:

They do exactly what they were intended to; rattle the person is messing with the car, and annoy people around the area to look to see what is honking.

I meant the horn honking to indicate the alarm has been set, not when it's been triggered. I'm tired of jumping out of my skin whenever I walk through a crowded parking lot and suddenly a horn honks nearby.

This is why the Elio is considered an "and" car. For most of the population, the Elio would be a terrible Only car, but at the same time it is an incredibly economical second car.

Depending on circumstances I think the elio would be far from a terrible only car.
  • The cost of entry and low maintenance cost make it a great "only" car for people that have limited means or simply don't want to spend their wad on a vehicle.
  • If you are a single person and mostly drive yourself the cabin has sufficient space to haul your butt around along with some amount of baggage; including your golf clubs or cello :)
  • Food shopping is possible and again if you are single the quantities that you would buy at the store would likely fit the elio space well.
  • If you want a big car to haul lumber, carry folks on a vacation, or just pack a bunch of stuff, you can rent a car with the savings you realize owning the elio. The rental car/truck would be your "and" car in this case.
