For years I've said that I don't need or want a big car, I had no need for one, all I wanted was an enclosed 3 wheel motorcycle and now it's becoming a reality! Before this, I was wanting the Aptera - but the Elio is closer to what I was wanting. The price and MPG are just gravy.
Know what you mean. I followed Aptera to the end. To bad they didn't try a small gas engine in that sleek body.

Yes! If the Elio Eagle(EE) is the Datsun 510 of this decade I will be so happy I will dance to the car every morning.

just heard back from the Elio team,re., options:

Thanks for reaching out.
We recently announced our suppliers and haven’t rolled out our options plan yet. We will begin announcing the vehicle option soon, adding to this right up to production in the 1st quarter of 2015. These details will include pricing and an innovative original and aftermarket plan. One thing we can tell you is that the pricing will be in line with the pricing of the vehicle, low price + high quality! While there will be standard features considered “standard”, there will be many options that you can add to your vehicle that will add to your base price of $6800.
Thanks again!
Best,
The Elio Team

I like the sounds of that "right up to production in the 1st quarter of 2015". I like the rest of the information also but production and 1st quarter of 2015 gives me goose bumps! LOL :-) Z

At the very end they did, but it was too late. The design and molds have been bought by another company that intends to make it, but from everything I've read it's a rather shady company. It's too bad I'm not rich and can't buy that design and invest in Elio Motors to produce the Aptera as their 3 seater model.

That is the best and most telling post I have read. They really must have been told something different, or have gotten to a different phase to be using such verbiage..

Thanks. But what I liked about the Datsun was it was so unassuming, how it was just a vehicle to get from a to b, but it was built and designed so well you didn't care how it looked. That looked like it was up posed to be a looker. I would love to drive a refrigerator down the road if it got superior dive ability, dependability and economy.

AT $6,800, 84 MPG is great but at $1,000,000, it's not worth the investment. Price is, of course, a major driving force and I wouldn't have gone in if the price was a lot higher. However, I went all in because I want to see ELIO succeed in this endeavour. I WANT people to start driving around in cars that actually make sense. I WANT the US to become energy independent. A 20% decrease in oil consumption as a country would enable us to stop buying from the Middle East and Venesuela. Think on this though - the less money we send overseas for oil, the more we get to keep here. Experts actually say that Americans, on average, have $1,200 more purchasing power in discretionary spending than they did before the Balkan Shale oil production in North Dakota began.

Basically, I'm not a tree hugger but I do like clear skies and will do my part by parking my 15MPG F350 and drive an Elio. The Elio will use 1/2 gallon of gas per day vs. the 4 gallons per day I use in my truck driving to work... alone... (It'll save me... (4gal * $3.70) - (1/2gal * $3.16) = $13.22 per day, $66.10 per week, $3,172.80 per year (one barrel produces 19 gallons of gas) This will keep the US from having to import 44 barrels of oil to support my truck. The average automobile in the US averages 24.9MPG. The Elio triples that... we could, on average, lower fuel consumption by 66% just by having everyone switch to Elios! LOL I just had to "nerd out" there for a minute. I'm back now.

I think the Elio will be a blast to drive... white or Orange... to choose... to choose...

We share very similar reasons to support this vehicle. Although I don't think it will happen, I would like to see Elio and similar projects used as gateways (with DOE help) to a more effient future. Move in a good direction, let battery design step up to the plate in time. I believe it will happen one day.
