Was that Roy Rogers or Sky King? God we're showing our age. Have Gun Will Travel reads the card of a man, probably wouldn't play in todays politically correct world, nor would James Arness as Mat Dillon and Amanda Blake as Miss Kitty and their platonic relationship on Gunsmoke.
Platonic relationship my "Six Shooter" we all know just who and what Miss Kitty was and we know where Marshal Dillon hung his holster at night. 50's & 60's TV shows were not as wholesome as everyone thought they were. Watch some of them again. Now as an adult, I see a lot more going on, on those old shows, in innuendo, double speak, eye rolling and side glances than shows today, that just spit out what's going on or show it. Writers back then kept looking for and finding ways to get around the censors. Needless to say they were very successful! They kept the masses entertained and half of them had no clue what was really going on!;) It was family entertainment after all!:D

Words to live by. IMO.

Recently "we" have had an increase in aggressive words and positions. Some from new members who take delight in prodding others with a stick to irritate, some who've been here a long time now, and for some reason are taking hard and unbending positions on various topics.

I ask all to remember, "we" come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Our life exposures as we've grown has brought us right up to this point in time, and with our outlook towards life based on those experiences.

Some of us are highly educated, some, like myself, grew up as a gearhead and knuckle banger. While my career has changed, my "experience" as a knuckle banger serves me well, even in my very different career path.

All I ask, remember while our paths are different, we often have the same goals. How to achieve those goals is sometimes what causes disharmony amongst us. I suggest if you are confident on your position, then there's nothing wrong with discussing and viewing alternative views! It can reconfirm you position, as well as causing you to consider angles on the topic you have not thought of before. Again, IMO.

The lack of new information on our precious Elios has resulted in veering from our path. To learn about each other while doing so is enriching our own lives. IMO. However, to attack or take aggressive stances towards others who merely have a different view, is not a positive step and is causing disharmony.

For those who "troll" as a means of entertainment, simply ignore. If someone promotes an alternative view on a topic, it is worth discussing. IMO.

If an initial post seems a bit forward or taunting, it would not hurt to remember it is probably thier first time here, and the intent behind the typed word doesn't alwasy come through. We can give them the opprotunity for discussion, gaining of knowledge, and perhaps enrich our own lives while doing so.

If you reject mutual cooperation, including posts such as this one, it is your right, but you will miss out on learning a lot about People from all over the World. That in itself, is a waste and a shame.

Moderators, move this where you will, I just wanted (hoped) it will stand out for a bit so more People can read it, and hopefully fill in the blanks I have not thought of at this time.

Respectfully submitted,

Bert Miller
I can live with that.:);):);):);)

While I'm enjoying the journey down dead or damaged memory brain cell road, do you think that perhaps this thread has drifted just a tad bit off the beginning topic? o_O
Mean while, back at the ranch........ Oh wait........this is the honor and respect thread. Sorry Coss, your right back on topic but At least no one threw a hissy fit and a gentle reminder is all it took. See we can play nice with others!;)

Wait I have to wipe the coffee off my screen I laughed so hard!! That was funny!!

Excellent advise BadBoy; I raised my kids telling them everyday; "it doesn't cost you anything to be polite".
While I do clean windows, I do not clean computer screens. lol Wasn't sure if anyone knew whom I was referring to. Props to you and Happy Trails.

wasn't the guy who drove the jeep Pat??
Yes real name Pat Brady. Lone Ranger of course had Tonto. Tex Ritter rode White Flash and side kick was Arkansas Slim. My favorite was Davy Crockett (Fess Parker) with Buddy Epsen playing Georgie. Epsen famous for Beverly Hillbillies and Barnaby Jones died 2003 at 95. "wee doggie". Gabbie Hayes and Andy Divine played humorous side kicks in Roy Rogers movies. In 1956 I shook hands (actually his little finger) with Roy at Houston Rodeo, Here is a picture of him and Dale but not me..sigh. These were good clean entertainment. http://digital.houstonlibrary.org/cdm/ref/collection/images/id/4314

Bert,

Honor and Respect are earned and to those whose contributions and comments deserve these tenants I concur wholeheartedly.
On the other hand those who step over the line of decency and accepted behavior should be called to task. Alternative views are
one thing, outright callous disrespect in posts on any public forum are uncalled for and should receive the total rebuke of all who
witness it. I recently took a rather aggressive stance towards a member of this forum for saying "whatever" after he was called out for
a rude, insensitive and disrespectful comment towards one of our finest, ( and now gone) here on EO.com. The content of my attack,
regardless of intent, was unacceptable and that has consequences. I was called on it, by a Moderator and had it stricken from the thread.
Not that I'm any sterling example but I acknowledged my mistake and accepted the consequences.

IMHO one of the problems with our society is that we have become all too afraid to speak out against that which is wrong for fear of
damaging someones sensitivities. The only way to change unacceptable behavior is to confront it and require of the perpetrator
an immediate change. Be that change in the manner of censorship or punishment, it must be done and done quickly and decisively.

Ignore it and the unacceptable becomes acceptable.

Bert, you and 99.9% of the people on this forum are good decent people. I sincerely hope that I can be counted in that number,
but be assured that I refuse to sit quietly, "play nice" or "Ignore" when Honor and Respect are violated.

Sincerely,
R. L. Dusty Durst
