There is no indication that the IAV balance was paid in full or if the engine has tested beyond the dyno testing, or in the E1A. If it was we would or should have seen some track testing video to show some progress and spark some excitement.
As for testing, the majority of that is done in a test cell, no in the actual car. I know Roush has a large facility that does that and under no circumstances are recording devices allowed. Roush does all of that 150K mile testing, thermo shock testing and emissions testing. As for the actual engine itself, it's in the black on and there's pics of the white one have an engine in it. The black one does run and drive and I assume the white one does because Teves would not be able to do all of the ABS and stability testing without it.

The engines exist but none of us know to what extent they have been tested as Elio has not provided us with that in their blog. Showing a single dyno pull only indicates that it functions without all of it's liquids exiting it in one form or another.

This is about who is building the chassis and engine for Elio.

Thanks for checking in Jerry.
We are building the chassis and engine for the Elio in conjunction with our supplier partners. Aisin is our transmission supplier, IAV has helped develop the engine, and the chassis is a combination of supplier partners.
Thanks again.
Best,
The Elio Team

Interesting choices of words in Elio’s response: chassis and engine built with supplier “partners,” Alsun apparently onboard to supply transmissions (ostensibly if the check clears!), chassis a combo of “partners,” but IAV pretty much in the ‘past tense’ as merely a ‘helper.’ Hmmmm, is that engine an ‘ongoing concern,’ or more likely, ‘past tense?’ Is the engine completed? Where are the performance numbers? Is including IAV as even an ongoing and benign ‘partner’ a legal issue that is best avoided?

Kinda interesting: too bad with such a lack of information everything has to be so parsed. Even more sad is that the message composition has to be so delicate.

When are we going to get the straight talk?

If you look at the latest CAD screen shot, it shows two different engines. One looks exactly like engine installed in the black car where it has a sealed area on the front that indicates a timing chain (remember when they told us it had a chain). Then the other one looks like one that has a plastic belt cover on it (remember when they told us it became a belt instead of a chain). The top engine is the new and the bottom is the old. I have never seen the engine on the top installed in an Elio. In addition to that, it went from a 2 piece intake manifold with long straight runners to a single piece. Also, the alt, AC comp and water pump have moved. The water pump looks like it went from outside the engine to inside (from to the left of the timing chain housing to inside the timing belt cover). You can see that the The valve cover has changed too. To finish off the changes, the exhaust manifold went from a header to just a tube manifold with a stamped collector. The oil pan looks different as it's angled which would tell me that the engine is to be leaned forward at about 15 degrees.

The engine went through some major changes at least in the CAD system. Does that top engine exist in the real world? Who knows. The newer upper set of engines look much more compact as compared to the lower ones. Plus, that engine in the black one looked like they had to shoehorn it in there because the intake manifold is right up against the firewall. Even the upper engines are not the same as there are small changes in each.

Very good observations. So they might not even have one engine ready?

All these questions can give you a headache in a hurry!:D It's much easier to just accept where they at right now and that they're working hard to acquire the funding they need. So everything else will start moving again and we will get our questions answered when they get it...IF they ever get it...get it?:D

There was suppose to be a two-step valve lift system (VVA) installed and fine-tuned which uses switching tappets.
By all accounts (even from EM) it never was. Apparently, when EM ran out of money, AVI stopped working on the engine.
This never completed special system was supposed to significantly improve mileage and performance.

So, technically, if you consider the planned improvement to be part of having the engine "ready"... nope.
