I actually saw someone close the door windows, step off his car and use the key fob to lock the car and enable the alarm....the car was a convertible with the top down ....

I saw this once, at the post office. A young lady came out and unlocked her car with the key. I asked her "mam, did I just see you unlock your car?" (the Devil made me do it). She never cracked a smile and said "Yes", it was a convertible w/the top down. Yep!! she had beautiful Blonde hair.

I actually had the old "big thumping noise in the rear of the car" come in for repairs.
Started out of the parking lot, heard (and felt) one heck of a thump. Put it in park, opend the trunk, took out the bowling ball, closed the trunk, seatbelted the bowling ball in the passenger front seat, then backed up into the parking lot again.
I walked in, handed the owner (who was waiting for someone to pick him up) his keys, and told him it was on me, as the repair was priceless.
I got Christmas cards from him for about the next ten years! :D

Last winter I helped a senior widow at a self-serve gas station. She said she was a recent widow who had never pumped her own gas *with a deer-in-the-headlights expression*. I believed her, the anxiety seemed real. This is not a joke, but I thought you all would enjoy the story.
We rented a Ford Escort to a woman once, she came back in and said she didn't know how to drive the car- it was an automatic transmission!

My Porsche Boxster has an interior motion sensing alarm that is activated if the top is cut and someone reaches in.
The motion sensing alarm is deactivated when the top is down to prevent sounding if a small critter such as a bird, cat or whatever gets inside,
I think it should go off even then, just to scare the offending animal out of the car.
Not leaving anything of value inside, I don't worry about it.

I had a co-worker who took her new car into the dealer because it wouldn't go over 35 mph. They adjusted the seat forward so she could depress the throttle and all was fine. Also I heard about a gal who launched her brand new boat and couldn't get it on plane, so she cruised over to the marina across the lake, they checked the motor and outdrive and all seemed fine, a technition dove down under the boat and came up laughing, as the trailer was still attached.
