I took another 3"+ out of the hood's width, the headlight law has made me refigure how I am approaching this, and happy with the thought process, should be easier and cheaper, just have to wait and see if it works in practice. .

Just a warning that it's an ongoing design thing, and changes could and will happen.
We know you're up for the challenge getting the whole front sorted out. I'm sure the boot will be easy-peasy for you- a thin line of LED lights all across will do nicely.
One of the better ways to describe what I would like to attempt to do at the front, comes from the Australian V8 Supercars racing series.
I will attempt to make the original shape of the OEM headlights, become running lights having a glow effect, similar to what you see in the picture below.
This is the best way to retain the original styling effect, but of course with the addition of 2 real headlights in the legal central position, looking like some additional driving lights.
