that is what I was thinking, based on Hilton rates for the length of stay, that's $300-$400 just on the room + you have the other expenses.
The casinos there in Shreveport may make some deal with Elio. Afterall, the people coming in will be happy and probably more willing to spend some money. Shoot, we've ALL shown that we'll gamble - at least a little bit by putting money down on a car that may or may not be built (of course I believe that it will be made)

Here is my figures for the cost of my Elio.
Elio=$6800
Trans=$500
Cruise=$250
Shipping
or pickup=$750
TT&L=$420
Total=$8720
Hopefully the shipping charge will not apply to factory pick up. We need to protest vigorously about that.
Gotta have it.
Cruise will likely be closer to 200 and the transmission closer to double your figure maybe 8 to 9.

That "free" stay in Shreveport will smell of fly bait if they make us pay $750 if we go to the plant and pick it up...and goes completely against Paul's mantra of keeping the cost down.

Saturn got their launch by bringing people to the factory and treating them like something besides a source of money. It was hugely successful until corporate interest won out and it became just another GM badge.

Maybe they'll still charge the $750 but instead of using that money for shipping, they'll use it to pay for the stay, visit, and tour guide...
Forget that. I can stay cheaper and pay for it myself. If he is going to charge for shipping then change the price of the Elio. I can drive 2 hours and pick mine up in the parking lot. Charging for not shipping is total BS.

I agree. I have family in Shreveport anyway.

Not really egalitarian: "equal access to resources" is not the same as "equal cost of service".
Equal cost of shipping where shorter shipping distances subsidize longer shipping distances is more a form of socialism or welfare (redistribution of wealth).
This is not a new concept.
An early example of equality-of-outcome economic egalitarianism is Xu Xing, a scholar of the Chinese philosophy of Agriculturalism, who supported thefixing of prices, in which all similar goods and services, regardless of differences in quality and demand, are set at exactly the same, unchanging price.[9]
jtmarten,
I'm the last guy to support socialism, my family never received welfare and I did not propose these flat rate delivery costs. I merely made a comment.
Xing's comment is about economics, not social welfare.
I do not think much of present China either, and prefer US made products.
I intend to take factory delivery. If I have to pay $750 so be it. I can't change that.
Respectfully,
Dustoff
