A friend of mine has a Stallion (three wheeled auto cycle with a steering wheel) she rides with my motorcycle club. She complains all the time about it being very hard to dodge the potholes. The folks who ride three wheelers and side cars say the same thing. It makes sense if you line up to miss a hole with your front tire you will hit it with the rear tire. I could be wrong but too many riders say I am not. This is no reason not to get an Elio but don't think you will get away scottfree . Think it through.

I figure that the rear wheel will take potholes the best and won't cause any accidental missteering if it is deep.

I think your correct. That may be a good reason for a run flat tire.

Run flats require air pressure to work properly. They just give you a limp home mode. The downside for that limited capability is they ride harsh and are expensive. No thanks on both counts for me.
