I agree and also have seen that drums keep elephants out of my neighborhood too.
Reminds me of the Polack beating a drum in his back yard. Neighbor asks 'what the heck are you doing? Polack says 'keeping elephants out of my yard'. Neighbor says 'are you crazy? there is isn't an elephant within a 1,000 miles from here'. Polack replies 'I know, works pretty good huh'

I live in a area that is heavily populated with deer. I really don't want and will take extra care not ,to hit any, but that being said , wonder how the Elio will take meeting a deer. I don't think even with a 5 star rating will help. Hopefully the deer will decide to jump over. I just think in my case I will have to limit my speed till I get outta the woods.
I live close to NASA and they have a huge herd of deer that often jump fences to graze near and cross roads. In 2010 IIRC my son and I were returning from work driving my Pontiac Solstice convertible exiting the residential part of Pasadena, TX and a huge doe clear my hood. Josh was impressed I missed her. I was impressed I did not have to change underwear. It would have been bad especially with top down. Like any other wreck you try to avoid 'em.

the FASTER YOU DRIVE

the less likely you will hit a deer !

if you hit a deer with an ElioMobile and you can walk away it is a good day.

period.

the ONLY advantage I can see is the slope of the windshield will deflect some energy UP and OVER !

here on St John, USVI there are THOUSANDS of wild DONKEYS , that have become so lazy they stand in the road waiting for tourists to stop to feed them ..then take pictures

they are EVERYWHERE

but they don't move much ..

just stand waiting for tourists ...

I used to do maintenance on a few people's Datsun Z cars back in the seventies. One of my guys hit a horse at 50 mph on a country road one night. The low leading edge of the hood and the bumper broke all four of the horse's legs and the momentum tossed the horse clear over the 260Z. I'd think the possibility of the Elio doing tha same is pretty good, plus, you have that narrow profile and the roll bars in the A pillar for added protection in case things go really wrong.

My wife's mom is from Maine, so we make occasional trips out that way. Coming home on US Route 2 one time, at the New Hampshire border there was a yellow reflective road sign the size of a big billboard that said BEWARE OF MOOSE! HUNDREDS KILLED IN COLLISIONS WITH MOOSE! All this with a big silhouette of a moose... And they weren't referring to the number of moose killed, either. (shudder)

My wife and I were headed down the road at night in a well populated area, she was driving and I looked up to see a horse standing 1 ft. from the side of the road as we went by.Talk about getting the s--- scared out of you.

I'm no more worried about deer than i would be in any other car. I'm careful to avoid it but like anything else, it could happen. It's likely to total the Elio but if insurance covers it, no worries. You'd fare better in a truck or SUV but I digress. If the deer isn't too mangled, you can eat it too

Hopefully it will be small enough to get in the back seat.
