All of 1968 and first half of 1971

I lived in Libya from 1961-1964. My Dad was USAF Personnel NCO.

Hi JanDru, Your family must have been at Wheelus AFB just outside Tripoli. My group was MAAG downtown at the Embassy but we relied on Wheelus for shopping and a touch of home. I was Army but we had a few AF personnel with the group. Things were more peaceful back then even though Khadaffi had just taken over. My roommates and I drove to the ruins at Leptis and Sabratha and walked around in town without fear (well, maybe a little). By the time I left, things were getting a little tense and Wheelus was being turned over to the Libyans. A few years later they burned down the Embassy.
