Going from unconscious driver to headless was a bit of a stretch don't you think? If there is no way for the passenger to get out with the driver in the seat, I doubt if the government will want to be financially involved. They would not want to be involved in a safety related lawsuit.
where do you come up with this stuff?? gov liability in a "safety related lawsuit"? I do like the headless, burned to a crisp, methane gas emitting driver.

I have three cars that I consider dangerous, MGA Bugeye Sprite and an Austin Seven. I have no problem with my son in any of them, but would never put him in the back of a motorcycle or Elio
THAT I can agree with. The Elio is a go-to-work or play for one. And oh-by-the-why, if-you-must, ok take on a passenger. I think everyone appreciates the effort to allow a passenger. Most of us never intend on using that option, but we will at some point.

I agree with you most people will just be using it for themselves which is fine. The people that are using it as a two passenger vehicle, are the ones that I worry about

Let's review -stats tell us that about 4 people a week or about 200 folks a year die in car fires
about 610,000 die from heart disease I think the best defense against dying in a car is to keep the drivers as healthy as possible-
go ahead keep swapping those bacon wrapped, cheeze wiz, deep fried, with lard burger recipes and raise the risk of dying in a car fire
For those who "hunger" Ouch- for better gas mileage, -the less you weigh the better the mileage!!
time for my breakfast- tofu scramble w/ nutritional yeast!!

while that may be true for some, I suspect that it won't be true for many others .... much the same thinking as with motorcycles .... many we see have only a driver while is sure isn't rare to see one with a driver and passenger .... as can be seen in some of my prior post, I do wish they would include some sort of escape hatch for the rear seat .... that said, a person in the rear seat of an Elio will be much safer than one on the passenger seat of an open bike and from that standpoint I have little doubt an Elio will provide its passenger(s) with more in the way of safety than any other vehicle classified as a motorcycle

Worry about it for yourself. Make such rules as you may deem appropriate for yourself and your own vehicle.
I sick of people who keep trying to regulate me and my conduct "for the children" or because they want to make me safe.
I'm an adult and am quite capable of making my own safety decisions.
My country had one Ralph Nader. That was more than enough.
