Hard to understand why anyone would still believe that somehow a "miracle will happen" and that the elio will magically be produced, when the facts would suggest otherwise. All pe's silly "must haves", up to 84 MPG, utilizing off the shelf technology, USA built, low purchase price, etc. etc. were just that, ridiculous, impossible to meet goals, anyway you slice it. So of course the elio has been a complete non-start from day one.

As a registered professional engineer, I have never encountered a single other engineer, in my decades in the profession, that would even begin to entertain such grandiose claims. Unsubstantiated, impossible to validate claims that have no basis in reality. No other production vehicle has ever come close. The superb, 1st Generation Honda Manual Transmission Insight with it's true 60+ MPG, comes closest, and Honda reportedly lost money on each Insight built. Even Honda couldn't make money on an expensive to build, ultra-high efficiency automobile.

Yes, we need innovators, yes we need early adopters, but all that enthusiasm has to be tempered and have some basis in reality. Per today's news, California, the largest car market in the USA, will ban the sale of new internal combustion cars / trucks in about a decade. All manufacturers are moving to strictly electric vehicles, so an elio with a 10 year old, dated ICE design, would be obsolete if it were built tomorrow.

No the elio will unfortunately never be built. I suggest to pe, that he might consider selling the construction dwgs for the elio, for hobbyists to tackle it themselves. That is the only way we will ever see an elio on American streets.

If pe were to offer a complete drawing package, yes I would likely buy a set, just for my own interest. Plenty of available electric front wheel drive motors and could be fitted.

Except there's no proof that they ever produced a design that could actually run at highway speeds. No videos of an Elio running at 65 MPH, no testimonies.

Nope. It does not. It takes you to the same page that's blank except for "That account has been suspended". And that's right after you click on "Customer Login". It doesn't even give you a page where you get a chance to type in your username and password. Elvis has left the building and neglected to pay the light bill. The other ("Investor") eventually sends you to a page that informs you that your end and your internet provider is working fine, but Elio's server is not working.
I think he was trolling. Company has totally shut down, Paul has probably left the country.

Elio should have upped the price to $15,000 or $16,000 just to get the thing built and then tried to lower the price after that. Many of us would have still bought the car at that price.
That becomes the predicament. Elio would have never got 65K reservations over the 4 year span that it took to get that number. Maybe something like 20K. On the other hand, a more realistic price and units per year along with a healthy profit margin, could have generated more serious investment from people willing to spend real money. Trying to sell a three wheeler (which the US market is very leery of to begin with) that has a business plan which had way too much initial expenditure (i.e. the plant, high volume production, the 120 company owned stores, overly expensive distribution system and customization program), depending on a failed ATVM loan program, just resulted into a massive risk for an institution to throw $500M into it. As for a $1k investment for people like here, it's no big deal. When you get to big numbers, then you decide to look into it a bit more.

Now looking at Elio, the warning signs were right. Paul knows he cannot show his face in public because not only did the business plan not work, he treated the reservation holders like garbage. He hasn't spoke to you since May of 2018 and it takes over 6 months for people to get a refund. Add into that, he shut down the IR and customer login page. He even took the stock investors and refuses to talk to them either.

Think about it, if Paul made an announcement today that he got full funding and that in 76 weeks production begins, would you believe him?

I have been absent here a long time (I needed a break from the chatter about Elio) and looked up my deposit date is coming on it's 5th anniversary. This looks like it will never happen and I think we have all been duped. I wish I was wrong, but sure that I am not. The worst car start up tragedies ended up producing some cars. TUCKER, BRICKLIN, DELOREON, FISKER ALL CRASHED BUT DID PRODUCE SOME.

After 8 years, I got a different 3 wheeler.. my son and I have a blast!
