Yes, it's the headlights. The UK regs say a maximum of 400mm from the outer extreme of the vehicle. I think they mean the centre of the lamp, ie the bulb. The P3 looked OK, the P4 not. I think it would be a great shame if Elio denied themselves the UK and probably the European market because of this issue.

He I did remember right....It has been some 34 years since I was in the UK, I thought that was what the issue was, but the memory is not what it once was......and while waiting for my Elio it seems it is getting worse since all I can think about on my commute every day is how much more enjoyable it would be in an Elio instead of spending a fortune driving this truck.....

Would a single headlight three wheeler comply?

EM would be very smart to design for a worldwide market......if possible. Has anyone done an actual on center measurement on the P4?

I've notice that many people have been following elio for awhile. I learned about it when it popped up on my facebook a few months ago and have been reading alot of the post to learn more. So I was wondering how eveyone else learned about it.
My first view of the Elio was the short morning news show a while back on the FOX channel. Immediate Enchantment! I used to ride motorcycle whenever temps were above freezing. It'd be shorter to mention the places I Haven't been on the NA continent. I had to stop a few years ago due to a lumbar disk injury messing my leg coordination, and buying a 3 wheeler on my pension was just not facing reality. I saw the Elio and thought of the places I Could go and Afford to go and I was hooked.

I was actually doing research for a high mileage 3 wheel homebuilt car I was planning to build. I built a car back in the 80s trying to get 100 mph (failed-about 75 mph was my best) using a 19 hp 3 cyl Yanmar diesel. Still kind of fun as I could drive to work 6 weeks on a tank of diesel. Anyway I can't build my own homebuilt for $6800 so I'm all in.
My kind of guy! (as a friend ! duh) I pulled a degree in Automotive power BS in 1984. In that activity by 1982 had a working chassis of an all aluminum 3 wheeler, inspired by RQ-Riley the California Commuter Car and others. Dropped the project when I had to support my family. Returned to the idea in 2002 when Gas was going up. Kept an eye out and found the Elio , maybe before 2008, and only about 5 miles from where I work in Tempe. Couldn't ever seem to connect to see it. As soon as Elio started looking serious, I put my full focus on it. That was about 3years ago. Put 100 down about 2 years ago. Couldn't afford the 1K until this year.

I was a member of the Reliant 3 wheeler forum in UK, and a moderator. The owner got concerned about copyright issues and closed the whole thing down. I began looking for another site and found this one by mistake.

I can't justify putting money down because I'm fairly certain the present design (P4) won't comply with the regulations here in UK so it would be pointless if I couldn't drive it here. The P3 would comply, I'm sure.

I hope they're listening at the factory, I did email them!
I'm sure it would be easy to put a wing out to the side with a headlight at the end. If more than a few dozen people seek it, an importer will surely do it.

I've been researching a high mileage/alternate fuel car off and on for some time. A Nissan Leaf was considered, but for my wife to drive it to her folks house and back home would be at the extreme range of the Leaf in warm weather. I also looked into converting a sedan that got decent mileage to CNG. Cruising the web with StumbleUpon one night (always better than TV), I came across the Elio, and dove into the details. Damn, this is it, and the price is simply the icing on the cake. It solves all our third vehicle issues in one fell swoop. Mileage, around town usability and economy, my trips to the company offices for training programs (820 miles round trip), my errand running when I'm home as I'm always in the car by myself. I've not put any money down yet, but I'm thoroughly hooked!

I will have to check out StumbleUpon, sounds interesting.
