Joshua Caldwell said: I emailed Elio inquiring if the trunk would be big enough to fit full size airline checked baggage and the answer is no.

My reply: Thats ok with me because I can't afford to fly anymore. ...If I needed to carry full size airline checked baggage in my Elio it would only mean that I had my EX stuffed inside of that suitcase and I was on my way down to the river to dispose any and all evidence.

Unless you have your new girlfriend in the back seat.......you can fold the seat down and have plenty of room for a suitcase or two when you start traveling again by air with the money saved driving your new Elio......or actually afford to have a girlfriend.

That's where the top luggage carrier will come in handy for large bags, golf clubs and etc. View attachment 2428
Ok, saddlebags are a much safer option than a rooftop carrier. Since the air along the sides are disturbed by the wheels anyway, it's not as big an aerodynamic change either. This is a three wheeler, keep the extra weight centered, toward the two wheels and down low. One of the after market suggestions is a replacement nose unitized with fenders and storage. Bit more expensive and visually risky than bags, but doable.
The micro trailer is still the best option, IMHO. (so long as it IS micro)

OK, I admit, yes for just a carry-on bag, just prop the rear hatch up and strap one or two bags in there edgewise, then drive carefully, keep budgies/rope on the car for that. Just like you would carry an arm chair in a hatchback :-)

I have a Prius, which I like, but one of my few complaints is that it does not have an interior hatch back release. Anyone heard if the Elio will have one?

good question .... I don't recall seeing a key latch for the truck

The Prius has a button just under the edge of the hatch. Invisible. Since the whole locking system is electronic it can't be opened without the whole car being unlocked. I have to assume the Elio release is just above the back-up lights in the above picture.

Must be out of sight in the picture. If the camera could look down into the open hatch I'll bet it would show up. Unless it's a magnet!
Velcro..........saving $3 per vehicle.........oh I kid Paul Elio! There has to be a quality functioning lockable exterior latch. Maybe a power lift gate. Good question to post on FB.
