Trunk Questions

No visible sign of a latch........odd.

the white part on the frame at the bottom center of the opening could be part of a latch ... the picture isn't clear enough to see if there is a button on the trunk lid above the white part .... still no key slot shown

I emailed Elio inquiring if the trunk would be big enough to fit full size airline checked baggage and the answer is no.

Airline baggage dimensions: 28.5" x 19" x 10.5"
Trunk dimensions: 27″ x 14″ x 10″

It looks like I'll either be in long term parking during trips or go to the airport in a friends' car.

I asked Elio about a towing package. Sounds like it will be an option. Along with a motorcycle style trailer and you're set.

Maybe it's a pin latch like the hood.

Latch is in the center just under the lip, I know because I was the first one to open it in CT there was no slot for a key & not unlatchable from the inside - but that is only a feature in cars due to kidnappings and you can't fit a person in the trunk.

Not directly, but I've read that they've told other people that it will be key lockable. No knowledge about inside unlockable but I would seriously doubt it.

The P4 doesn't have a proper trunk latch. It's a prototype, after all.

My guess is the production model will have a conventional keyed trunk latch with about a 50/50 chance of an electrical remote release. If it doesn't come with the remote, I'll bet 100% that it's an extra-cost option.

Depends on how you pack and for how many. It will be tight but we are light packers so that will be sufficient for us if we do a road trip, which we hope to do. Our question is, where do you put the road trip snacks!!
