I wonder if any issues would arrive filling the tires with foam. I've seen it done on tractor and forklift tires. Why not an elio tire
Hi and welcome from Oregon, mainst73. If you reserved at the all lin $1,000 level then your Reservation/production number will be somewhere over 10,400. I think the highest number we had at the last release was somewhere around 10,450. The next release of numbers will be Wednesday.

There is a whole discussion on tires and what to do about them (at least one thread and possibly more than that) in the General Elio Discussion Forum. Browse that forum or simply search for foam in tires and see if something pops up for you. We have covered so much information since I joined in early March that I can no longer keep track of all the information.

I hope you enjoy this interesting and diverse group as we journey towards Elio production and ownership. :-) Z

I have no idea where I am in numbers all honesty. My tablet had different numbers than my work computer. In addition I only did 250 for now. Wanted to make sure I was at least in will probably upgrade after Christmas bonuses. Hopefully I typed this right, I'm not a blogger and don't know how theses things work the best.

I tend to frown on the "I've never had a flat and never will" philosophy.
The flat will occur, at the worst possible time AND place.

My experience in a tire shop has given me a specific dislike for fix-a-flat. Except for extreme emergency.

With all of the options, I would be shocked if a spare wasn't offered in one form or another.

But for now, let's assume that you have a blowout on the rear tire.
Your options:
Fix a flat
AAA
call a friend.

I'm looking for a utility option that would allow the rear seat to be replaced with a cargo section that would include a spare tire.
(hint hint)

Do these cars which don't have a spare (including the Elio) include a jack and lug wrench?
No.

I have a 2005 Mazda RX-8 I've put over 50,000 miles on, including several thousand on road race tracks. It does not have a jack, lug wrench, or spare tire. I haven't had a flat yet. I think the last time I had a flat in any car was 1997 or 8.

The RX-8 does include a "sealant/Inflator" kit but that is useless as the sealant expires after a couple of years and the manual says after using it the tire, TPMS sensor, and wheel have to be replaced. Really only a "I'm going to die unless I fix this flat" kit, and even then since the wheel will be destroyed anyway I'd just drive on the flat!

who is uber? I cant believe you asked that. Only the greatest company that will bankrupt all taxi companies in the next 10 years. its a cheaper cab because you are calling a private owner to take you around but they do background checks and provide a million dollar insurance policy. here is the link. never call a scum bag taxi company again. https://www.uber.com/en-US/

And todays article: http://www.businessinsider.com/trav...-to-be-valued-at-more-than-17-billion-2014-11
I heard many of the taxi drivers you refer to are now moving into that private owner sector........the wonderful world of Uber. They don't have my credit card information.

IMO. This is a not issue. Not saying it can't happen. Call up the owners of the below list of cars and ask them what they did when they got a flat.:)

http://newsroom.aaa.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/vehicles-without-a-spare-tire_aug_20131.pdf

That's an impressively long list of makers too greedy to include a "standard" spare tire, or too desperate to coax a fractional mpg by saving the weight.
Not one of these cars should be driven in NW Canada or Alaska (very sharp gravel, and flats WILL happen, as I know from long experience), and construction debris anywhere can produce a non-inflatable flat.

IMO, sealer / inflaters don't do it, and the lack of a spare for any but the most sedate driving environment is a bad idea -- in the Elio's case, with two different tire sizes and no storage space, I don't see any way around it, but the lack of a real spare (preferably full-size, not a donut) is a real drawback.

Just don't get caught where AAA can't reach you! And stay off the back roads, out of construction sites or glass-strewn slums, and watch how you enter those "fanged" parking lot protectors!

You did fine. You will not be getting a number this week then. LOL So you can simply sit back and relax while you read, read, read, read. . . . comment if you so desire and read some more. This site definitely does not have a shortage of information. I hope you enjoy it. :-) Z
