The old "jeep style" military tires ain't bad in mud, next to useless in snow/ice though.
It's not big lugs you need, but lots of smaller "biting" edges. Take a look at a dedicated snow tire like the Blizzak and you'll see what I mean.
I think the single (dual if you count dragging the P3 back out lately) prototype in a mall dog and pony show has run its course.
In my opinion, EM needs to get the P5/E series out before we see significant gains again.
Before I get lynched for being negative, note that the stated time line for...
Getting used to no PS should take all of 12 seconds.
Heck, an old Deuce and a half w/o PS ain't bad unless you're trying to back a trailer into a tight spot with it.
I hear ya Jeff, but I'm still half heartedly hoping for a State Fair stop between the Detroit and Denver shows.
I'm just the other side of the St Croix from you.
Mileage means a lot less these days, due to better manufacturing and better lubricants mostly.
Here's my current car:
My last commuter was 275k when it suffered a shiny side/dirty side inversion :(
Here's hoping the Elios have similar reliability!
Shimmed solid lifters may be a cheaper "shelf" price, but the cost is in assembly/maintenance. Hydraulics are a drop in item.
There's no effing way that an aluminum block and head will run a bearingless cam either.
I have one ATM that will be easier with an Elio. It has a curved curb around it. With 4 wheels, your best plan is to get way left, follow the curb with the from tires, then HARD right to avoid the curb with the left rear as you drive away. No problem driving straight out with an Elio.
You can...
Glad you did the research.
I'm looking for a Perkins because they were the OEM diesel in later models, and I have 2 other tractors here with em. BTW, it's a farm tractor, tricycle front, of course!
