That's right; it was Jeff, not his brother Ward.
Think Ward Burton did win the race in 2002. Not sure how many laps he led.

Denny had the same thing happen that let him get past Tony in the first place at the top of the hill; wheel hop. At turn 11 (the hairpin) Denny went deep (braking late) and him locked the RF tire, and had the back end hopping around; Smoke went inside him, and if you watch the video from the overhead view, Smoke forced Denny into the wall (Smoke pretty much drove straight out of that turn so Denny had no choice but to drive into the wall; once he hit it, Tony put his car back on line and won; Joey almost past Denny when he was trying to recover from hitting the wall but didn't get there in time. Tony even admitted that he forced him into the wall, and Denny said he would have done the same if he was in front.I lived near the Sonoma track and it is one of my favorite tracks. Great views no matter where you are on the track. Smoke was lucky that Hamlin screwed up on the last turn. Smoke is too good to let him get away with a mistake like that
Love this track because it is great viewing some fantastic racingI've tried to like watching road course racing but simply can't get excited about it .... I don't care for racing on any track (oval or road course) where its hard to pass .... at Sonoma for example you have a 2 mile track with 2 turns (#6 & 11) where passing is said to be possible .... if I was driving, I'd probably prefer a road course but not for watching
Viewing is better now since they redid the grade on the majority of that track; it wasn't always.Love this track because it is great viewing some fantastic racing
