To Debbie Bruce: I just want to ask, why is our interest in putting money into something we like or wish we could have any interest of yours. It's our money, not yours. I like to go to the casino's and play the slots once and awhile. Is that your concern too. Does this make you feel good, like you are saving the good people from making, in your opinion, a bad call. Get off your soap-box.

Hay, every forum has at least one.
Every time you or someone else feeds into the pot she wins.

We all gave Elio money. I don't care what you do with your funds, gamble or burn , your call. Elio had the right idea, but counted on believers financial support too much to get it going. If he would come clean on what is really going on maybe we all can get our 3 wheeled car. Personally I don't care who's name will be on it. They way things are going now it will not be Elio. You guys are excited and don't want to hear anything negative. Several have tried this idea maybe someone can take over who can get product to the market.

So things have been picking up lately with the pre-orders, but we are still a far cry from 100,000 much less 200,000.

Why is it so hard for something like the Elio to get this kind of buy-in? There are 168 million adult drivers in the USA. It seems to me that the Elio scratches an itch that most of us have. Why such a poor response? It was introduced to the public just over 1 year ago. This thing should sell like hotcakes.

Although it has been mildly entertaining, this is my last reply to you.

Yes, everyone please learn from outsydthebox's example. You aren't going to convince her, and she isn't going to convince you. Insult each other in e-mail or through private message. None of your bickering has made you look as clever as you think it did.

Thoughtfully?

First off it's weird. It's different. Three wheels isn't a new concept, but nobody has ever gotten any traction (no pun intended) with the design.

Second, in many people's mind's it is new. If I walked up to you 20 years ago and said for a $100 a month I can give you a phone that fits in your pocket and works almost anywhere, you likely would have said, "$1200 a year for a phone? There is a pay phone right over there I can use for 25 cents!" And look where we are now.

Third, it is new. That 17,000+ people have been willing to pony up anything at all amazes me. It is entirely unproven. Of the few who are willing to take a chance, five fold more are willing to wait and see if it's even worth the trouble. Maybe it's the next Yugo, with one less axle to fall apart. Maybe it seems like fun, maybe it seems smart, but damnit, I like my sweet sedan/SUV with comfy heated seats and a kicking stereo. It isn't noisy, it can merge into traffic without being a hazard and overtake a tractor trailer at 80 mph. It's a fucking Honda and it's 12 years old and I'd let it take my 16 year old daughter.

Fourth and final, the greatest automakers in the world who have been making cars for a global market for generations, probably have more failures in their portfolio than they have true successes. Who in the hell is Elio again?

I like it, I'm in. They can send one to me in a coffin after they've skipped town to Belize, and I'll still get my miles out of it. But if Elio thinks they can sell a couple few hundred thousand units a year domestically, in the first five years of production, at base model 7 grand, I think they are out of their tree.
