I'll argue that point (a little) I had foot surgery yesterday and my foot is in a big splint and wrapped thick.
They have come up and sniffed; but none of them have tried to lay on it yet. :becky:
However, they do feel your pain!
It's the "bad" smells of the hospital, wait 'till the operation odors wear-off then they'll come around- if your smelly feet don't get to 'em.

My one and only cat was a rescue. A friend of mine worked at a PetCo. One night there was a knock on their front door after closing hours. He opened the door to find 2 felines left on the floor in a box. Both were extremely ill, missing a majority of their hair, and majorly malnourished. The company had them looked at by a vet. My furry companion had 2 bacterial infections and ringworm. It took 8 months to nurse her back to health (which PetCo did). Unfortunately, her brother didn't make it.

During the recovery I would visit my friend at work and play with the cat as much as possible. She had a tendency to rear up on her hind legs and bat at me with her paws during these sessions. She appeared to be a Russian Blue so I named her Greybear. I loved that cat. I'm tearing up as I type this. I was eventually allowed to adopt her (yes I had to go through the whole adoption process). Took her home when I was just moved out on my own at 18 years old. My first pet. She was with me through many growing experiences. From my single days to the time I got married... all the way to me having kids. Unfortunately I lost her 3 years ago. She was 19 years old. Towards the end she was losing control of her bowels so we kept her in the garage. It was insulated and I tried to keep her as comfortable as possible. The night before she passed she came to me and spent a good 15 minutes just talking to me and letting me pet her. It was her way of saying goodbye.

I loved her very much. Still like cats just refuse to get another. She can never be replaced and no other feline can live up to her. Cats are great, kind, loving, independent, empathetic creatures. Not better than dogs.... just different.
I know what you're going through (went through) I had a pure white cat with green eyes, pink nose, pink ears named Junior.
I got him because (well long story) he had been left outside to fend for himself by a guy that put his mom in a rest home, and just kicked the cats out (bastard). I got him from a friend that lived close by; Jr was about 4 months old. I had him for 16 years and we were inseparable over that whole time. He died here in the house from age and internal organ failure; saddest moment in my life. Exactly 1 month later, my dad died; not exactly a stellar time for me. I also said no cat could ever replacement Jr. There were other events going on that put me in such a deep depression, I started giving up on the world; and tried to drink it dry. I went from 170lbs to 116lbs and looked like a POW. For some reason I had to go to the local shelter; that's where Techie rescued me. His mother had been hit by a car when he was 2 weeks old, and left on his own, till someone found him. He was fostered until he started getting healthy, and the day the foster took him to the shelter, 24 hours I walked in. He has been glued to be ever since; I am his new "mom".
I turned my life around right at that point because I knew he needed me. That was 4 1/2 years ago; I haven't touched a drop since that day; gained the weight back and have never been healthier.
And he's still attached to me at the hip.
Excuse me while I wipe off the tears.

I remember seeing the evacuation of folks off roofs during Hurricane Katrina. I was struck by a guy, who when he found that they wouldn't hoist his dog, refused to go.
At the time, I thought he was nuts.
Now, after bonding with my cats, (and an appreciation of all living things,) my first warm blooded pets, I too would opt to stay, and become that crazy guy.

IX::VIII-- time for the three of us to turn in. With all of us coming from FLA, We share the quilt nightly.!!

About 3:00 AM local time this morning my phone rang and I was told of the passing of my 'little' furry four-legged friend, Oscar. We had been together since my mother brought him to me as little kitten, and Christmas present, 13 years ago. I know I am really going to miss him when I get home later on today and through the holidays.

I received a call on Sunday afternoon from my sister, who was watching him at my house, that he was crying and not able to move his rear legs. It turns out he had heart disease and a blood clot had formed and traveled back there. He was rushed to the vet where they began treatment however apparently last night another clot escaped and went for his brain. He passed quickly after that.

I'll break my self-imposed hiatus to give my condolences. 13 years is a pretty good run for a house cat..

Goofy, your sadness is felt here too, even though I'm not a cat person (they make me asthmatic and many years ago I had an anaphylactic reaction to one my father brought home in his briefcase).

I can only suggest that you mourn for a while but go out and find another cat needing a good home, just like you gave to this one. There are many out there that do need your care and affection. Please do it.

Thanks, and I actually have no shortage of little friends as we are fortunate enough to have three other cats, two dogs, and some crazy hens running around that also share our property. Oscar happens to be extra special to me as he was the first furry companion I had on my own as an adult. He is not the first one I have lost but no matter how many times it happens it still hurts to lose them.
