as seems to have become the norm with FedEx, their shipment tracking is pathetic at best ... it shows our order departed the FedEx location in Troutdale, OR a 4:16PM on Friday, April 29, 2022 .... as this is being typed it is 9AM on May 3, 2022 and nothing else is shown on their tracking .... oh well, at least we know it's on the way
I'd call FexEx and tell them that you are hungry.

replacement auger assembly arrived today .... only issue is a torn gasket .... after looking at it, I don't believe it will make a difference but I have sent them an email asking .... if it does matter, I'll make a really strong effort to not mess up the OEM gasket and reuse it .... we hope to get it installed tomorrow

as anticipated, it took me a lot longer than the video ---- in fact, just over 2 hours .... most of the difference was came with me having to label all of the wires so that I would be sure of plugging them back in correctly .... I also spent more time having to back track when I realized I'd pinched a wire when putting the hopper back on the grill .... it fired right up and am very happy with the way it burned .... as a test I put the pizza oven in to burn it off .... I must say that doing so was most impressive .... I set the smoker on 225 which brought the pizza oven to over 500 degrees .... our kids along with their kids are coming over tonight so Davy's first cook with be hotdogs and bratwurst

just experimented with reheating a small, leftover portion of mac and cheese ....

things learned :

1. it took just under 20 minutes from the time the grill was turned on to settled where I sat it at 225 degrees

2. the food temp probe works well

3. once the food is cooked, the grill responds well to reducing the temp way down to where the food can be kept warm

4. with 15 minutes in the Davy Crockett Grill, the mac and cheese picked up a hint of a smoked flavor

so far, color me impressed
