Spare Tire Questions

I received an email from Elio concerning the spare tire. Although a spare tire will not be included for the vehicle a spare tire kit will be optional.

Apparently a few new cars don't come with a spare tire. The Hyundai Veloster doesn't come with one.

In the past ten years I have repeatedly purchased spares for my Jeep and motohome, but have not used a spare ever. I think it's a waste of money and fuel and the next time I buy tires I will probably be rethinking the purchase of a spare.

smart do not come with a spare, but they do come with an air pump wired into the system. If the hole is small the air pump is designed to attach a bottle of Fix-a-Flat goop while you inflate. The Elio would be light enough that a set of Run-flat tires could be an easy solution.

In reality you don't get many flats, you don't really need a spare. The money you save driving the Elio can be spent on a cell phone to call the tire repair man.

It is becoming the trend. My wife's 2013 Mustang also does not have a spare.

Sounds like the lack of spare tire issue is not an issue, keep the spare and keep the price at $6800

If you can plug it, plug it. Fix a flat is for temporary fixes. It will make your car shake until you replace the tire.
