I've always wondered why if you were walking in the woods and saw a deer or the deer saw you and you kept moving the deer would run off, but you drive a car with the lights on and the car make the car driving sound and the deer runs out in front of you. What's up with that? I'm going to remove that deer crossing sign on the road and put it somewhere else that's in a better place for the deer to cross.

This audio original and full clip from Y94 Playhouse Fargo, ND radiostation was too funny to ...
Speaking of Elk....just dispatched fire extraction team to extract a woman from her car after she hit a dead Elk that someone had not reported hitting on the roadway.
I agree and also have seen that drums keep elephants out of my neighborhood too.'does anyone have any experience with installing "deer whistles'
I've had a little. I visited a GF in another town, hit a deer on the way home, just B4 daylight, as it turn out the trip wasn't worth it. What I gained was not worth the damage to my little Z car.
I mounted a pair of 'deer whistles' on a Datson 260Z, way back. Some time later a small buck removed them for me, both head light shrouds, damaged both fenders/hood/bumper and punctured the radiator.
I say they 'Do Not Work'. The deer Died, on the shoulder of the road, before I could beat it to death for damageing my Z. I drove on home in a Blind Rage.
I think the whistles work Much better as an Elephant repellant, at least in this country. I've never, ever heard of Anyone hitting an Elephant with 'whistles' installed.lol
E-car. I like that and will use it from now onMost of the year I'm not too concerned about deer hits but come rutting season my "spidey senses" go on full power, even more so at night. Like any car, the Elio won't come out well from the encounter. My concern is how I and my come out of it but from what I know of the construction of the cabin, it bodes well. Although, I wouldn't want to loose the E-car either, that's for sure!
Deer have hands?I've never seen a deer running through the fields with his hands over his ears because of the annoying sound coming from a whistle.
I have a friend who's a long haul trucker and he tells me the two worst things to hit on the road are sheep and pigs, pigs are built like an arch and are very dense and will take the front axle right out from under a semi, and sheep or 'cotton cows' as they have been called get caught up in the drive shaft and can take hours to cut out, I also know horses and elk are tall enough that when you take their legs out from under them, the body can come right into the cabin with you. Fortunately with the E-car having a narrow profile and a full roll cage and no drive shaft, I think we're good, easier to miss an animal with the cabin of the E-car than the cabin of a semi. If I hit it with a wheel strut, I'll buy another E-car. I can't buy another me. BTW I really like the term E-car!If you live in an area where the Deer and the Antelope play ( and the bunny rabbits too ) or open range cattle states you should have learned very early in your driving life, where there's one, there's a dozen. Slow down, pay attention, especially at dusk and dawn when the herd is most likely on the move. I have bumped a deer at a bridge and knocked her off her feet, no damage to us or her. Also bumped a cow in a heavy fog and freezing rain, I was expecting deer near a creek and instead found a herd of Holsteins standing in the middle of the road. It's not easy seeing a black & white cow in a heavy fog. Of course you can't predict the ones that are going to try and play mexican stand off with you. It happened to me in northern Minnesota, a small herd just stood in the middle of the road not moving for about 5 minutes, tried the horn, nothing, got out of the car to try and scare them off but when the buck lowered his head as if to charge, I got back in the car. Then there are the ones who decides to jump over your car, coming out of a creek bed and heavy brush ( happened to the wife ). The very large 10 point buck did not survive. The Saturn had to be lifted to untangle the buck from underneath it. Lots of damage, several thousand $ worth.
