Here's the #1 problem with wind energy. It's people love it but as long as it's not in their area. I worked for a company 15 years ago designing transmission systems for wind generators. They knew the problem because it was the same exact issue that happens with high tension lines and cell phone towers. people complain because of the lack of electric or cell coverage and when the solution is a tower or running new lines, they don't like it. Thus they find every bad thing about it and it sounds evil. The same thing happens with solar because people don't like the reflection on the panels, thus solar energy is bad. Put the panels 5 miles away, then those people are all for it. Just like real estate. Have a 500 acres of land, people want $800K homes on 5 acres of land. As we all know that's less people and that value just helps the area. Reality is, that's for feasible, thus it's $300K homes on 0.4 acres.

To be fair, windmills are an eyesore. However, that's where energy storage and a smart grid come into play. There are huge tracts of unpopulated areas in the Mid-West and South-West. Deserts, for instance, are great places for solar...just ask the Saudis.

Anyway, the ability to both store the excess energy, and send it anywhere in the country it may be required, keeps these systems out of people's backyards. However, I believe Tesla's solar roof system is an alternative for those concerned with impacting the aesthetics of their home/neighborhood. If we were in the market for a new roof, and Telsa was installing them in our area, we'd jump on it.

China already has huge storage areas for their solar and wind farms. What is interesting is that hydroelectric dams shut down turbines if there’s not enough demand. China storess it and then redistributes to other areas. They are way ahead of the US.

As Gottemfeathers said, it's best to contact Elio Motors directly.
If you have a locked in, deposit, you will not receive a refund.
But if you have one of the "Want In" deposits, you can receive a full refund.
But as suggest, check directly with Elio Motors; it's your best option.

I'm All in. One at the $500 level and One at the $100 level. No refunds and I never expected one. I am locked in at the $7,000 price point if they are ever built.

Those that wanted to be first in line AND have a fully refundable deposit must think they are Washington insiders or something. The rest of the world knows you have to choose one or the other.
