I may be the only weirdo out there, but I stand by my decision not to put money down on something I haven't seen, and more importantly, DRIVEN yet.

Call me old fashioned, and it might cost me $500, but that's the way I work.
You'll get nothing but respect for knowing where you stand and sticking by that. Old fashioned is good.
For my part, I have a lot of experience with prototypes, so I feel solid about my decisions too.
What mostly I like is rational thinking on a basis of reasonable facts. Reasonable must be based on what you have available and in reflection of your personal goals. There is no judgment one can push on to someone else. You pay your own money and you take your own risks.

I agree with AriLea and do not see an issue with this or call it old fashioned at all. We have a number of members who have an interest in this vehicle however for various reasons have decided not to put any money down at this time. From my point of view how anyone chooses to spend their hard earned money is definitely a personal decision based on their own life experiences and goals. This forum is a fun place for me to spend some of my spare time because even though we are here due to our mutual interest in this vehicle we have a wide variety of personalities and opinions all contributing to some very interesting discussions.

I hate to be a negative nelly but this line from the recent mailing made me stop and think:

"And, for those of you who are already at the $1,000 “All In” level, how about this? Now is the perfect time to reserve a spot in line for a second Elio. Because, after all, the only thing better than one Elio is two!"

So the awful thought that has been creeping into my mind is if reducing the incentive and asking those that are already all in if they want to buy more might be related to needing a certain number of all in at $1000 by September as some sort of milestone necessary to ensure funding. That is, I wonder if some of the blind investors stipulated a certain number of $1000 reservations by some date or ????

Yes, I'll go take a prozac and try to not think about this anymore.

Jeff, I like your thinking and have shared my thoughts MANY times on this forum. Yes, I may be a little paranoid, but I am also a very realistic person. And while I have long since put my "all in $1000 in their hands, I refuse to place my head in the sand as SOME of the key Pep Squad members on this forum would encourage us to do.

Always place a "smiley face" at the end of notes, such as yours or mine. . . . . , or "Fearless Leader" will be on your post like a chicken on a June Bug. :) :p :D

Hi Toxotes, yes to the credit card, not right then and there, but yes you will eventually after a few weeks receive an email with your place in line. No options are chosen by you for the vehicle when you put down your money. You will get to choose a t-shirt size.
