Not really seeing the comparison. The porn site in question has zero advertisements (new owner kept up the tradition) and never sent out so much as one piece of spam. No promotion on my part. I felt that if it was all that and a bag of chips, it shouldn't *need* overt promotion.Hmmm..... You're against people "promoting" things they believe in because you hate telemarketers and for some odd reason equate it as being the same, but you have admitted that you once had been a slimy porn site operator..... Kind of a hypocrite wouldn't you say?
Probably a true statement, and that's fine.I would say that a lot more people would look down on a porn site operator than they would to a telemarketer.
The language used in the post read like a telemarketer script. Thus, the comparison. Is email less invasive than telephones? Yes and no. On the one hand, email doesn't make a bell ring. On the other hand, if I'm not home when the phone rings, that's the end of it (I don't do voicemail). Worse, in this case... You're asking people to literally tell friends. To draw a comparison to the phones again... With a random telemarketer I can look at callerID before I answer and simply not answer. With a *friend* calling me, I feel compelled to answer the phone. And so it is with email. An email from an address I don't recognize gets sent to the bit bucket without a second glance. An email from a friend? Hey, I open that bad boy and you know it. Otherwise you'd ask us to send that letter to as many random folks as we could rather than our friends.I hate telemarketers too, but I'm wondering why you bother to compare me to them ? I'm not using a telephone to intrude on people when they might be busy, email is the least intrusive way to communicate with others.
Honestly? When I read the original post in this thread I thought you were an Elio employee operating an "every day joe" account. THAT is how "saley" it read to me; not as a grass roots demonstration of enthusiasm, but as a badly executed attempt at viral marketing and I thought such a viral campaign would reflect poorly on Elio. After all, how many people hate spam? Most? And here was Elio requesting that we do their dirty work for them. If you're saying you don't work for Elio, fine. Why do you even give a shit?
I'm not too sure why you get so upset simply because others make a statement that doesn't agree with yours. There is nothing offensive about most of these posts but you are choosing to take offense. I liked your email letter and may even use it at some time when I think of someone I want to send it or something similar to it to. Right now everyone who is on my email list (and I admit it is a short list) already knows about the Elio because I have been telling them about it plus sending pictures of me with the Elio and EM team in Portland. I hope you will simply sit back and enjoy other subjects on this forum and not take the things people say personally. This is a great group and there is a lot to learn here so sit back, take deep breath and dive in so you too can enjoy this exciting adventure and journey into Elio ownership. See you next year in our Elios.Jesus Christ!... You can't do anything on this board without having a bunch of willy nilly nit pickers tear it apart, each and every time.... I came up with this simple idea to try and help us get the word out about the Elio, and all I get is a bunch of nay sayers saying, "its spam", "it's like a telemarketer", "he's an Elio employee", bla bla bla.... **** this site. You guys can eat **** and die...... I don't give a ****.
That is what we are here for. After all, we agree with YOU! :-) ZBack on target, everyone I have shown a picture or video of the Elio had negative comments including my son who did not know I had placed a deposit called it hideous. Oh, well.
